About the event
Special Walk
On Thursday, April 10, the UM Indigenous Birding Club is hosting a special birding walk featuring Elder Carl Stone, who will share traditional teachings on Migizii (Bald Eagles). The walk will begin at 11:30 AM, with participants gathering at 11:20 AM by the Louis Riel statue at Migizii Agamik. We will make our way to a site to observe Bald Eagles and listen to Elder Carl Stone’s teachings. Some seating will be available at the site for those who wish to sit and take in the experience. We will be observing the Bald Eagles from a safe distance using spotting scopes to ensure their well-being.
This walk is open to BIPOC birders and allies who share our belief that birding is for everyone, regardless of experience. Binoculars and spotting scopes will be available to borrow, and participants are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring water. This is an opportunity to connect with nature, community, and Indigenous knowledge…
